We are so grateful that so many of our friends decided to join us and our families in Montego Bay to celebrate our wedding. I never expected the turnout, Jamaica is relatively far away for most of the people we invited, so it was amazing that so many people could come! We really wanted our guests to feel engaged and to keep them busy throughout the weekend. I’ll be talking more about the different events later, but first I wanted to share the welcome gift bags we put together!
I had been seeing welcome gift bags all over Pinterest for destination weddings, so I knew exactly what I wanted to include. We curated a mix of useful items as well as some of our favorite goodies. The gift bags included the following:
– Sandal Rescue
– Sugarfina Candy
– Pain killers
– Schedule of events
The bags themselves we bought off Amazon in a bulk pack .I had considered white or something more bulky like burlap but we ended up going classic because we thought it looked best with the customized sticker we created. The stickers read “Colón Wedding #MoreLife.” I loved that we went with a circular shape and that the greenery went with our entire wedding theme.
We made matching smaller stickers to customize the candy too. Sugarfina is our favorite candy brand, you probably have seen it on my Instagram before. Andy loves the classic champagne gummy bears that they are known for and I love the martini olives aka chocolate covered almonds. Each had a sticker that said “His Favorite” and “Her Favorite.” Andy’s ended up being more popular but whatever! More chocolate for me.
We have talked about Boot Rescue and Sandal Rescue before, we love them so much it was a no brainer to include them in the bags. My shoes really held up throughout the weekend so hopefully that is true for our guests as well! I definitely think they were a standout item in the bag.
We also decided to customize matchbooks. We ended up going a little overboard with our order so Andy and I have an abundance at home with us now too. It is super special to see them and remember how much fun we were having just a little while ago! The white matchbook had “The Colón’s 3.24.18 #morelife” written in gold on the front.
The other items were just about practicality. Sunscreen and pain killers are so necessary when you are out in the sun drinking! I think that every packet of advil ended up getting used and quite a few people confessed they had forgotten or run out of sunscreen.
The last item, the itinerary was created by our wedding coordinators. They created a gorgeous leaflet that went with our rehearsal dinner and the color contents of the bag. It outlined exactly what we were doing when and where to meet for each wedding event. I also have about 50 of those still in my apartment which is another sentimental thing to see laying around. They tied everything else in and were the perfect thing to round off our bags.
