My toes generally stay bare during the winter, so it almost slipped my mind that a pedicure was ESSENTIAL for a long trip to the beach. Nail polish is really a hard thing to get done right, almost all of the products on the market still have unfortunate chemicals and animal byproducts in their formulation. But for me, and a lot of my readers, I don’t want to compromise when it comes to the ingredients that I’m coming into contact with.
Luckily for me I live in a city filled with possibilities, so of course I was able to find a nail salon that aligned with my values and really went above and beyond what I thought was possible for polish – Sundays Studio.
Sundays Studio formulates their own polish in house and it is 10 Free! I feel like five free is the general standard when it comes to beauty products, so the fact that they were able to formulate a polish that works without ten of the most harmful commonly used ingredients is truly amazing. The polishes are also vegan and cruelty free. A lot of times when I’m talking about non toxic products it is all about the consumer and their health, but in the case of a salon it really affects the employees too, so I’m glad to see a company that is looking out on both sides.
Something that is more important to me than I would like to admit is decor and packaging. I love beautiful minimalistic design. When products are sitting on your vanity you want them to look nice! When I’m receiving a service it makes for a more relaxing experience when the space is aesthetically pleasing and conformable. As you can see form my photos, and the ones they have posted on their website, the space is beautiful, and hygge! Hygge is a Danish concept all around feeling pleasant and cozy, and that is exactly how I would describe Sundays Studio. Instead of bulky ugly massage chairs with a built in tub, they bring out minimalistic basins of water to the foot of their natural wooden chairs. The space is airy and light, and now I want to have a girls spa day there! It also would be so perfect for a beauty or brand event.
The pedicure itself was totally relaxing. I went for the one with scented oil and rose petals. Because the products are so natural it took a little longer to dry than I was used too, but that just meant more time in the chair sipping tea and reading the book of poetry they had placed on the side table next to my seat. I went with white for the wedding but after seeing their other colors I need to go back for something more fun! Which is an entirely lovely problem to have, and since they sell their products in house, it is an easy problem to solve.
